Remember the Sabbath, The Joy of Rest

with Rev. Annette Olsen

I invite you to join us each summer Sunday morning for a look at The Sabbath.  Our summer reading series is based on the book,Sabbath by Wayne Muller.  It is much more than just the seventh day of the week.  “Sabbath is a way of being in time where we remember who we are, remember what we know, and taste the gifts of spirit and eternity.”  Sabbath by Wayne Muller

This week is on the Joy of Rest while we remember the Sabbath“Remember the Sabbath” means “Remember that everything you have received is a blessing.  Remember to delight in your life, in the fruits of your labor. Remember to stop and offer thanks for the wonder of it.”  Sabbath by Wayne Muller

I will share some of the practices our author suggests helping us in our journey of Sabbath Rest.  Please join me in reading the text through the rest of our summer together.  Here is a sample of what I will be covering in the next several Sunday's.... And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was good. Sabbath rest invites us to step back, and see that it is good. Jews believe that one the Sabbath we are given an estra soul- the Neshemah Yeterah, or Sabbath soul- which enables us to more fully appreciate and enjoy the blessings of our life and fruits of our labors. With this extra soul, like God on the Sabbath we, too, are more able to pause, and see how it is good.

Join us for us our special series and embrace your Sabbath Rest.

I look forward to practicing the Sabbath with you.

All are invited to stay after Sunday Service for a light lunch and discussion of Sabbath practices.

Sweet Summer Blessings
Rev.  Annette
